Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions

2. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an enquiry via this website, bringing an item to our workshop, or authorising the commencement of any Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, have the legal capacity to enter into an agreement, and are the owner of the item — or are authorised by the owner to engage our services on their behalf.

3. Service Description

Verge Atelier provides watchcare services across three tiers: Simple Care Visit (RM 620), Mechanical Restoration Service (RM 2,380), and Cabinet Piece Restoration (RM 4,600). Published prices are starting figures for standard pieces and may vary based on the findings of an assessment.

Services are provided at our workshop in Kota Kinabalu. We do not currently offer postal or courier-based intake and return. All items must be delivered and collected in person.

Workshop hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Saturday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Closed Sundays and Malaysian public holidays.

4. Intake and Assessment

All items are subject to an initial assessment before any work is agreed or commenced. Assessment is provided at no charge and carries no obligation to proceed. A written or verbal summary of findings will be provided before we ask for your authorisation to proceed.

If the scope or cost of a service changes after work has commenced — due to a finding not evident at initial assessment — we will contact you before proceeding further. No additional work will be carried out without your consent.

5. Client Responsibilities

6. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, design, and images — is the property of Verge Atelier or is used under licence. You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute any content without our prior written consent.

Service documentation and written records produced as part of your service are provided for your personal use and to accompany the serviced item. They may not be reproduced or used commercially without our consent.

7. Payment Terms

All prices are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Payment is due in full at the point of collection. We accept cash and bank transfer. No item will be released until payment is settled.

If additional work was required beyond the original scope and was agreed in writing or by telephone during the service, the agreed additional charge forms part of the final invoice.

Refunds: We do not offer refunds once work is completed and the item has been collected. If you have concerns about the quality of work, please contact us within 14 days of collection and we will investigate and respond in good faith. Reasonable remedial work will be offered where an error on our part is established.

8. Service-Specific Terms

Simple Care Visit: Covers the items listed in the service description. No teardown of the movement is included. The service does not extend the life of an ageing movement; a separate restoration service may be recommended following the visit.

Mechanical Restoration Service: Includes a post-service settling-in check, available to the client within two weeks of collection. This check is offered at no additional charge and covers minor timing adjustment if drift beyond expected tolerance is observed.

Cabinet Piece Restoration: Scope is agreed individually at intake. Timelines are estimates and may extend depending on parts availability or findings during work. Staged updates will be provided. All decisions regarding restoration approach (e.g. whether to refinish a case or preserve original surfaces) are made with the client's explicit agreement.

9. Disclaimers

All services are performed to the best of our skill and with appropriate care. However, we cannot warrant specific outcomes — particularly for aged, damaged, or previously modified movements where results are constrained by the condition of the piece.

We are an independent watch repair workshop. We are not affiliated with, authorised by, or acting on behalf of any watch manufacturer or brand. We do not represent our services as manufacturer-authorised servicing.

This website is provided for information only. Nothing on it constitutes valuation, authentication, or investment advice in relation to timepieces.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, our total liability to you in respect of any service shall not exceed the amount paid for that service.

We will not be liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including any loss of sentimental value. Items are accepted for service on the understanding that the client has their own means of establishing the item's value for insurance purposes.

We carry trade insurance for items actively under service at our workshop. We recommend that clients insure high-value pieces independently and declare the item to their insurer prior to submitting for service.

We are not liable for delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including supply chain issues affecting parts availability, public health events, or natural disasters.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Verge Atelier, its staff, and representatives from any claim arising from your breach of these Terms, any misrepresentation regarding ownership of a submitted item, or any unlawful use of this website.

12. Termination of Service

Either party may discontinue a service engagement at any time before work commences, without charge. If you wish to cancel after work has begun, you will be responsible for the cost of work carried out to that point and any parts already sourced.

Verge Atelier reserves the right to decline or discontinue a service if, during work, we identify conditions that place the item at undue risk and which were not apparent or disclosed at intake. In such cases, we will return the item to you in the condition received, with a written explanation.

13. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from or in connection with a service provided by Verge Atelier shall first be subject to good-faith informal negotiation between the parties for a period of 30 days.

If the matter is not resolved informally, it may be referred to mediation under the rules of the Malaysian Mediation Centre before any court proceedings are commenced. Both parties agree that the courts of Sabah, Malaysia shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any unresolved dispute.

14. General Provisions

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be published on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
